Your Digital Photos Need This Badly

photo-books-reviewWhen we were approaching Ean’s first birthday I was going through all the photos that I had taken over the past year and it was literally thousands. If you look at just my Instagram, I posted about 900 photos in just one year. That’s a lot!

We all do this, snap away thousands of photos but we hardly ever do anything with them except posting them on social media or store them on our devices, which is a shame. Life, photos, memories are individual pieces of art that should be enjoyed on a regular basis, not something you scroll through while you’re on the toilet without WiFi.

For me, photo albums are boring. The format, the rigid order of it all just doesn’t speak to me, I’m more of a collage type of person. As extroverted as I am, I also don’t want giant prints of myself and my family around the house. The artist in me wants to be able to show them, but in a way that’s more cohesive and dynamic but not messy and fragile at the same time, and so I went online to look at options and absolutely fell in love with the idea of making my own photo books.

One thing that especially struck me was the ability to connect to Facebook or Instagram via their printing service and automatically upload photos straight away and have it printed. You just pick the photos you want to use, then choose your cover and layout, add your delivery address and you’re done. Here’s a video going over some of my impressions and keep scrolling for a complete rundown…

Review – Sprout Baby, The Ultimate Baby Tracking App

I’m a big fan of statistics and record keeping of information, both important and random. Whether you’re interested in keeping track of your baby’s doctor’s appointments, immunisations, feedings, sleep, growth or milestones, I’ve got the perfect app for you. It’s called Sprout Baby and is a fully fledged monster of an app that does everything you need, and much more.

The good news is, it’s a truly amazing app and I’m not getting paid to say that… I actually bought the app myself because I needed it and instantly fell in love with it. The bad news is, it’s only available for iOS for now, which means it only works on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

After you install it, you enter your baby’s details and away you go.

One of the best features is that you can share the app between devices and people. So once it’s synced up, anyone who’s synced will see the updates as they come. Perfect for working/travelling parents and loved ones who are far away. To avoid having to pay for it several times for family members, just log in with the Apple ID of the person who purchased it, download it and you’re done. Apple has the Family Sharing feature as well but I found it finicky and a bit buggy for this app. Once you’ve installed it on all the devices you want, you click the more tab and the gear icon to find your PIN, enter the pin on the other device(s) and you’re synced up and ready to go.

Let’s dive in! Continue reading

Choosing The Right Stroller/Pushchair/Pram

oyster-approved2About four months into the pregnancy we decided it was time to start looking at which stroller we should buy. Being that we are first time parents we had absolutely no clue what to look for or what to consider when buying. What I knew for sure was that the comfort of… do you say driving? Pushing? Let’s say handling. The highest priority was how the stroller managed different surfaces and how easy it was handling it regardless if I was out for a brisk walk or slipping past people in a crowded place. We spent weeks and visited every possible shop in Malta which had different brands and ironically enough, we ended up picking the first one we saw.

The first thing to understand is that there is no such thing as the perfect stroller. Depending on your lifestyle and habits you will want to have something that matches that. So, let’s start from the bottom (now we’re here. #drake). Continue reading
